In addition she conducts the chamber orchestra and leads the baroque ensemble there. Has taught violin and viola at West Chester University for over 30 years. She performs with the Barnett String Quartet’s Strings ‘Round the World and Catch the Vibrations assemblies and residencies. As founder, Gael has been on Musicopia’s Roster of Teaching Artists since our beginning in 1974. In the summer, she is a chamber music coach at Vermont Music and Arts Center in Lyndonville, Vermont. A dedicated teacher and long-time Music For All Seasons musician, Gael maintains a private studio as well as teaching students at the Kimberton Waldorf School and the Baldwin School. She has performed at the Kimmel Center, Carnegie Hall, and the Mann Music Center. She was a founding member of both Strings for Schools (now Musicopia) and String Variations, a commercial music business which has been invited to perform at functions at the University of Pennsylvania, Villanova University, EBE, among others. Her teachers include Orlando Cole of the Curtis String Quartet and Janos Starker, acclaimed concert cellist in residence at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. Has lived and performed in the Philadelphia area for many years. She has worked as a Music For All Seasons artist since 2009. She was a Fulbright Scholar and has nine recordings of her work to her credit. Yael performs throughout Europe, Canada and the United States in collaboration with rappers, DJs and video artists. Her jazz group ”KAT” Modiano performs in venues in the United State and Europe such as: Blue Note, Dizzy’s Club Coca Cola, BAMcafé, Bargemusic, NJPAC (New Jersey Performing Art Center), Jazz forum in NJ, Copenhagen Jazzhouse, Copenhagen Jazz Festival, Malmo Jazz Festival, and more. A native of Copenhagen, Denmark, she works as a composer in progressive electro/instrumental jazz collaborating with ensembles, choirs, and visual artists. Her undergraduate degree in classical flute performance is from the Rubin Academy for Music and Dance in Jerusalem. Flutist, holds a masters degree in music composition from New York University and Hunter College.
